How to choose dog food?

1.According to the age

Nutrient requirements for dogs of different ages are different.

There are separate diets for puppies, adult animals and aging pets. For example, it is important for a puppy to get more calories with food than an adult dog. And vice versa: diets for animals over 8 years old should take into account that aging dogs need 20% less energy than an adult.

The ratio of vitamins and minerals for each age is also different. In particular, the puppy needs a significant amount of amino acids, calcium, phosphorus, zinc. Older dogs require more B vitamins, copper, and again zinc.

2.To size

The nutritional needs of the dog also depend on its size. Miniature pets are prone to obesity, oral diseases, skin and hair problems. Accordingly, moderate-calorie foods are recommended for such dogs to maintain weight, with special calcium compounds for teeth, with a special combination of linoleic acid and zinc for skin and hair coat.

In turn, large breeds have sensitive digestion and often suffer from diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Therefore, large dogs are shown fiber-rich diets from easily digestible ingredients containing a complex of fatty acids and glucosamine that is beneficial for the joints.

3.By features

A dog receiving a standard balanced food, while observing the norms and diet, does not experience problems with the assimilation of rations . However, there is a small group of animals with a particularly sensitive digestive system. For these pets special feeds have been developed .

Diets for dogs with sensitive digestion differ from universal ones by the presence of a larger number of prebiotics that improve intestinal microflora; the presence of omega-3 and omega-6 unsaturated fatty acids that reduce inflammation; Easily digestible rice serving as a source of carbohydrates. This food relieves the dog of unpleasant symptoms of indigestion.

4.By breed

There are also feeds for specific breeds on the market. In the feed line Royal canin there are diets intended for labradors, chihuahuas and so on. These feeds take into account the specific features of the rocks. For example, labradors have wool with a unique water-repellent structure, so they are recommended fatty acids and a special protective complex of substances to maintain healthy skin and coat. Chihuahuas are prone to tartar formation, from the appearance of which a special food with calcium compounds rescues. Also, feed for specific breeds Eukanuba, Advance Affinity.

HOW TO FEED A DOG BY DAY OF THE WEEK?

Should each dog portion of food contain ALL vital substances and be the standard of balance? – Our answer: of course not. A ration should be balanced, and not each serving individually.

The diet of dogs is a schedule of eating various natural products for a week. Basically, the variable is the component of the protein of animal origin, and the sour-milk and vegetable components remain unchanged.

Morning feeding should be made sour milk – this is 1% kefir and low-fat cottage cheese.

Lunch is possible, but this is not a complete feeding. Choose beef ear, labrum, trachea, cartilage, spinal or sugar bone for your pet in our store. Or offer your dog a whole carrot, apple, or brown bread croutons. But in the evening feeding, it is necessary to include meat and vegetable components.

The schedule for the meat component may look like this:

  • Mon – tripe ( beef or mutton )
  • Tue – sublingual section ( trimmings , pike meat , beef or mutton cheeks )
cf – beef or mutton kidneys
  • Th – ocean fish ( pollock , cod )
  • Fri – beef or mutton heart
  • Sat – tripe + liver ( beef or lamb)
  • Sun – beef (or lamb)

Such a variety of meat products will allow the dog’s body to choose the necessary substances to maintain a healthy tone. All these products are easy to buy in our store. For some, we arrange regular promotions.

What are the different types of dog meals and purposes?

Meals given to pet dogs can be divided into “general nutrition foods”, “snacks”, “therapeutic foods”, and “other target foods”.

  • Comprehensive nutrition food

“Dog food” applies to meals mainly given.

It is a major source of energy for your dog’s healthy body, so it is recommended that you choose a premium dog food that contains as little raw material as possible and is human quality.

  • Snack
    “Snack” applies to snacks.

Please choose something that has a good bite to give as a reward for discipline.

  • Therapeutic diet
It is a food that is given during the treatment of illness when the dog is not feeling well. It has less calories and salt than ordinary dog food.

  • Other target meals

Supplements that support “joint”, “aging measures” and “improve immunity” are applicable.

Lactic acid bacterium is a supplement that helps bowel movements, and glucosamine is a supplement for joint care.
